Tim Hoare (WRU Coach Development ManagerNorth), Rachael Taylor (WRU rugby co-ordinator RGC West), Dr Julian Owen (Lecturer Sport Physiology), Marc Roberts (WRU Regional Rugby Manager North), Iona Williams (Canolfan Brailsfor Sport Development Manager).Students at 飯排眻畦 will be offered the chance to be part of the North Wales rugby coaching workforce thanks to a collaboration between 飯排眻畦 and the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU).
The scheme will allow students to progress through the specially designed bronze, silver and gold awards alongside their studies. The awards, which have been developed by the WRU and staff at 飯排眻畦s Canolfan Brailsford and the School of Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences, will give students the opportunity to gain coaching certificates, attend coaching workshops and put their new found skills into practice through tailored work experience in local schools, clubs and events.
Tim Hoare WRU Coach Development Manager North, said: Through this scheme the WRU will be able to help develop the employability of 飯排眻畦 students and simultaneously increase the local rugby coaching workforce. This really does give students a head start as they take their first steps in their chosen career.
Dr Julian Owen, Lecturer in Sport Physiology at 飯排眻畦, said: This is a great example of how we try to provide real-world opportunities for our students that run alongside the rigorous academic courses we offer. These opportunities in conjunction with the Bangor Employability Award provides a structure to enable students to build and enhance valuable transferrable skills and abilities essential for success in the working environment.
Iona Williams, Sport Development Manager at Canolfan Brailsford, 飯排眻畦, said: This is another positive step in building on our current collaboration with the WRU and the North Wales Development Region which has seen the successful launch of the rugby sports scholarship scheme last year.
