You can get involved with a huge variety of sports. Our Students' Union has a wide range of sports teams and clubs which you can join, including traditional sports such as football, rugby and tennis as well as more unusual activities such as quidditch, underwater hockey and ultimate frisbee.
We also have excellent fitness facilities on campus, and of course our location means that you can spend time outdoors climbing mountains, paddle boarding, kayaking, surfing and much more.Â
On campus facilities
Canolfan Brailsford Sport Centre
Canolfan Brailsford, the University's sport and leisure centre, is located at the heart of the main student accommodation site at Ffriddoedd.
Facilities include two main sports halls, three well-equipped gyms, a gymnastics hall, a multi-route climbing wall with ascents varying in difficulty. Outdoor facilities include grass pitches for football, rugby and American football, a floodlit synthetic pitch for hockey games and training, a shared athletics track and multi-purpose facilities for tennis, five-a-side football and netball.
Treborth Playing Fields and Athletics Track
Facilities at Treborth, which is located next to the Menai Suspension Bridge, include football, rugby and American Football pitches and an eight-lane athletics track.
St Mary's Fitness Room
A Fitness Room is available to students living at St Mary's Village. The state of the art equipment supplied by LifeFitness includes treadmills, cross trainers, bikes, a water rower as well as a range of resistance machines.
For all students living in University Halls of Residence, gym and Campus Life membership are included. Â

The Great Outdoors
If you are already interested in outdoor pursuits you will be spoilt for choice by the huge range of sports available on your doorstep. Snowdonia is the adventure capital of the UK with a high concentration of opportunities, from exceptional rock climbing to scrambling and hill walking to an abundance of water sports including, canoeing, kayaking, surfing, sailing and sea kayaking.
Other facilities in and around Bangor
In Bangor itself there is a 25-metre swimming pool with 1m, 3m & 5m diving boards. Other popular attractions in the area include Zip World Snowdonia in Bethesda and Blaenau Ffestiniog, the Llandudno ski slope and snowboarding centre, Surflines Outdoor and Water sports centre in Llanberis, the National Mountaineering Centre at Capel Curig and the National Water sports centre at Plas Menai and Surf Snowdonia, a watersports park and artificial surfing lagoon in the Conwy Valley.
Sport Scholarships
